eCommerce Growth Amid a New Landscape

Sea Bags migrated to Salesforce Commerce Cloud, improving site performance, conversion rates, traffic, and revenue growth within three months post-launch!

In the 3 months post-launch of Sea Bags’ new site, they were bringing in more traffic and in-turn saw an increase in revenue. Transactions are up 47% on the new site, and revenue is up 53%.

The new site, given a new mobile-responsive design, is seeing an increase in traffic on both mobile and desktop. 25% more new users visited the site post-launch, with 57% more transactions on mobile devices. Desktop conversion rate is up 16%, and mobile conversions are up 20%.

Increased Site Speed To Serve More Page Views

Sea Bags’ new site has seen significant growth in site performance as well, their pages are loading approximately 35% faster on Salesforce Commerce Cloud down to 2.5 seconds despite now seeing 31% more page views and sessions.

Sea Bags had to scale their business onto a new eCommerce platform, and fast as the busy holiday season approached. We had to migrate Sea Bags off of Magento 2, and build them a new, modern, responsive home on Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

Magento 2 Migration

Sea Bags’ needed to switch to a platform that better suited their business needs. In order to have the site up in time for their busy holiday season, they needed to migrate all their product information, content, data, and extensions very quickly to a new platform that may not have immediately translatable cartridges to fill these gaps.

 

Creative Design

With a new platform comes an opportunity to give your new site and fresh and modernized look. Our award-winning creative team had the task of putting together a style guide that matched Sea Bags’ branding and identity and helping to give the merchant and stylish, innovative new design.

“Einstein AI”

A new Artificial Intelligence feature to Sea Bags’ site, the “Einstein” integration helps customers find recommended products depending on the page they were on, or what products were bought in the past, among other variables utilizing valuable customer data and insights only available on eCommerce platforms.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud Development

Sea Bags chose Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) as the home for their new site. They needed a platform that was lower maintenance, more user friendly, and could still fit their business needs in terms of scalability. Salesforce Commerce Cloud provides these, along with an extensive library of cartridges.

Custom Integrations

All of the integrations Sea Bags had come to need had to be ported to SFCC. On their previous Magento instance, they had extensions such as ShipStation’s custom shipping options, Cybersource Credit and PayPal processingTaxJar’s tax automation software, Bronto’s email marketing software and more.

Successful Magento Migration to Salesforce

Seamlessly, our team was able to migrate all of Sea Bags’ product and customer data over to an entirely new platform, Salesforce Commerce Cloud. While some of the previous extensions did not have Salesforce cartridges, like Bronto’s email marketing software and Sea Bags’ Data Feed integration, Redstage custom made new connectors and ensured Sea Bags still had all their previous features.

Innovative Site Design and Features

Our creative team gave Sea Bags a new, modern-looking website that exemplifies the brand’s values and identity while also delivering new features and experiences to their customer base. Sea Bags’ new website is also performing much better on the new platform. We helped declutter the backend operations by reducing the number of integrations and automated many of their processes as well. The Power of Exponential Growth

As a Redstage Client since 2015, Jura Coffee has seen continuous revenue growth from their DTC eCommerce operations every year since. In 2021, Jura received the AVA Gold Award for Most Innovative Website Element, Jura Live.

Revenue and Transactions Growth

In the month post-launch of the new site, Jura Coffee’s multistore saw huge boosts to their transaction volume, and in-turn their revenue. Compared year over year, Jura Coffee had gained 54% more revenue and 57% more transactions.

With their new, mobile responsive design their mobile traffic has increased by over 55%. Their new boost to traffic also converted at a much higher clip, getting a boost of 44% to their conversion rate post-launch.

Site Speed and Performance Growth

After the upgrade from Magento 1 to Magento 2, lowering the number of extensions and upgrading the hosting, the site is overall performing much better than before. Page load time is up to 10% faster, even with traffic and sessions up 10%!

In order to build and migrate to a new Magento 2 site build during the pandemic’s unprecedented eCommerce boom, Redstage had to both maintain the current Magento 1 site while working on the goals for the new one.

Magento 1 Site Security and Maintenance

The first objective for Jura Inc. was keeping their increasingly important DTC arm running throughout the project, as well as throughout the pandemic. We had to keep the older site running on Magento 1 while we got to work on the new Magento 2 build.

 

Creative Design

Our award-winning creative team had the task of putting together a style guide and ensuring the branding of the new site met Jura’s expectations. This included new page layouts, designs, and consistent branding in-line with Jura’s needs.

Business Strategy

Throughout Jura’s decade long partnership with Redstage, we provided guidance on the biggest business challenges and roadblocks they’d face along the way. Staying on the older and outdated platform was a bad idea, so Redstage got to work helping Jura plan their upgrade and everything in between.

Custom Development and Implementation

Crucial to Jura’s online DTC business is their custom virtual 1-on-1 product demo booking service, JURA LIVE.

We built this custom demo booking page in Magento 2 to integrate with their live video chat software, so customers can still get the personalized and hands-on experience with Jura products from home.

Magento 2 Development

With a team of Magento-certified experts working around the clock, and while keeping the old site running, Redstage had to develop a new home for not only Jura Coffee, but Capresso as well. The multistore functionality, along with the flexibility and customization of the platform, made Magento 2 the best choice.

Data Migration and Integration

Every product and line of product data from both the Jura Coffee and Capresso stores had to be migrated over to the new instance. Along with this came their ERP integration, Microsoft Navision, order importing, tracking exporting, a Dotmailer integration, and ensuring everything would transfer over to Magento 2 without a hitch.

Seamless Integration and Migration

All of Jura’s integrations were transferred over, either with upgrades to their software or condensing extensions with Magento 2’s native feature set, seamlessly. Combining the two stores onto one instance sped up maintenance, consolidated data, and improves productivity with its ease of use. Magento 2 is a more reliable, stable, and safer platform than it’s predecessor.

STUNNING 21ST CENTURY DESIGN

Our Creative Team revamped and refreshed Jura and Capresso’s look with modern new life while keeping the same identity and feel of the coffee giant. Jura loved it, citing “The whole team was very impressed, the aesthetic brought the site into the 21st Century. What was important was looking out for what was best for Jura’s needs, which Redstage always does.”

With the implementation of Jura LIVE, along with the new out-of-the-box features included with Magento 2, Jura Coffee’s customer experiences had gotten some fine-tuning and their customers are very happy. “Customers love the reworked booking system for Jura Live and have been engaging in the video chat to get demos directly from home much more often,” said Bradley Cooper at Jura Inc.

While unable to experience Jura products in person during the pandemic, Jura Coffee uses this system built directly into Magento to allow customers to experience their products online in a revolutionary new way.

Responsive Layout

In 2021, catering to your mobile buyers is just as important as any other buy demographic. We had to ensure Jura’s new website, along with Capresso and Jura LIVE, had a customer experience on mobile that rivaled that of the desktop experience. Jura’s customer base are verifiably happy with the design, the numbers speak for themselves…

 

 

On mobile alone, one-month post-launch Jura Coffee saw 55% more traffic on mobile. It was also higher converting traffic: Jura saw a 44% boost to mobile conversion rate with the new design as well.

3D Models & Augmented Reality

Jura Inc is already in plans to have Redstage develop 3D models of their products for manipulating and viewing online, like the model shown here. 3D models are already becoming a huge investment in retail and CPG, and with Redstage’s help, Jura wants to get ahead of the pack. Jura Inc. is also working with Redstage to allow customers to place Jura Coffee Machines in their homes and view their size and fit in real-time, in Augmented Reality.

BACKGROUND

Olam International, one of the leading food and agri-business companies in the world, operates from seed to shelf in 70 countries around the globe and supplying food and industrial raw materials to over 23,000 small businesses worldwide. They are one of the leading distributors of coffee beans, spices, and nuts around the world. Olam chose Redstage to modernize their internal and external eCommerce portals, requiring multiple site builds, data migrations, and several advanced integrations. 

BRIEF

OlamSpecialtyCoffee.com, Olamnuts.com, and OlamSpices.com needed to be migrated from a single Magento instance to 3 individual sites in order to increase operational efficiencies. 

GOALS

Each of the 3 new sites required different modules and extensions to serve industry-specific needs, notably OlamSpecialtyCoffee.com, which required integration with a Commodity Trade and Risk Management Platform.

THE CHALLENGE

The key integration was the CTRM, Olam’s custom ERP solution (and the single source of truth for all inventory data) which had to be connected to each of the 3 instances, in addition to individual modules and extensions. These included extensions for shipping, social media, search and more. At the same time, performance and security remained key pillars of the project.

After realizing that Magento 1’s End of Life was fast approaching, the Apricorn team knew they needed to migrate. However, they also acknowledged a need to upgrade their design in order to remain competitive. Focusing on secure external computer hardware, Apricorn’s original site was very old school and difficult to navigate. The site needed an overhaul from top to bottom including streamlining and optimizing menus, corresponding content pages, and revamping the user experience.

The Challenge

The biggest challenge Apricorn and Redstage faced was content data migration. Due to Apricorn’s customizations on Magento 1 (custom fields used for content pages and product page data), it became difficult to migrate the data to BigCommerce. This was an important aspect of the project, as Apricorn’s thought leadership is instrumental in their business success, and the content pages are where they prove product authority. Using Shogun, we were able to rebuild Apricorn’s product pages and migrate the necessary data quickly and efficiently.

 

The Solution

While this was no easy task, Redstage never stands down from a challenge and pushed through to complete the necessary migration on our clients’ timeline. Thanks to the power of BigCommerce’s out of the box solutions and features, we were able to keep the number of apps to implement down, helping in making the launch one of our smoothest yet!

With Apricorn’s multinational audience, they had a burning need for multi-language and multi-currency options in their new store. Utilizing BigCommerce’s GEO-IP function, we were able to natively implement an automatic IP lookup, crucial in determining shipping rates, currency exchanges, language options, and tax rates.

Our award-winning creative team designed a style guide for the new Apricorn site, a template of fonts, color schemes, and patterns in line with Apricorn’s branding and image. With this, their imagery will be streamlined and their branding will stand out from the competition even further, allowing them to further showcase their thought leadership.
